Well, 1.five years later I finally finished it. Probably the best book in technical perspective I accept read. The author is and then rigorous! Very impressive endeavor!

Ironically the reason it took me and then long to end it was that the more I read and was impressed with his iron subject it presented the more I felt it was worthwhile to return to the 3D gfx I had abased years agone. Funny when y'all think virtually it, that a great drawing book would push me away from drawing, only I guess information technology fits with my hypothesis that sometimes a keen civilization will probably produce it's most impressive works fifty-fifty as it's slowly being replaced by some other. I'grand betting if this volume could be sent in fourth dimension even just a few decades it would be considered THE manual for perspective drawing.

Reading it I was left with a great appreciation for the effort and motivation to put in that extra endeavor to make something professional. Great book. Cracking addition to his superb youtube aqueduct tutorials and every bit if that wasn't plenty the book as well comes with it's own series of explanatory videos. A unique volume full of slap-up thoughts and analysis of perspective angles, techniques and many inspiring beautiful designs, all elegantly fatigued.

Recommends it for: Artists wanting to improve their perspective sketching
I took a look through this book and it'southward mind-extraordinary good, I bought a copy. Bully book on perspective drawing but dense and lot of information to accept in. It's a great book if you lot desire to do technical cartoon like mech, buildings and vehicles just unfortunately I can't tolerate technical drawing then I will just give information technology 2 stars.

How to Describe begins almost immediately with delivering its ambitious titular promise of solid central cartoon theory, simply early accelerates, eager to depart for the realm of design, with many intermediate topics on perspective drawing left underdeveloped.

For instance, three-point perspective is merely afforded iii short paragraphs, with the recommendation to use 3D software to achieve it. The reason? Real designers rarely have the time for three-point perspective. The issue is a feeling of having signed up for a four-year caste program majoring in drawing with a small in design, but ending up with the inverse.

The blueprint topics covered are without uncertainty of immense value to students and hobbyist interested in concept fine art and industrial design, and it's evident on every page of the book that design is a passion and disciplined professional quality a serious commitment of Scott Robertson'due south, only regretfully, the much anticipated, admitting unadvertised, new standard among perspective drawing textbooks lands with an ambivalent but undeniable thud, unmistakably shy of marrying perfecting the art with encompassment, owing to its own overexcitement about its destination.

As scathing as this criticism is, How to Draw deservedly earns all its many praises: The book offers unparalleled quality in didactics perspective cartoon techniques with empowering lessons that whatever student of the subject would be sore to miss. Those harboring ambitions of joining Scott Robertson amongst the ranks of professional person concept artists and industrial designers take here an introductory textbook for the decades. And that's its intended purpose; those who understand this will non be disappointed.

A more broadly descriptive championship, nevertheless, might have been that of the nevertheless-unpublished denouement of Scott Robertson's "How to…" trifecta with How to Describe'south subtitle retained: "How to Pattern: Drawing and Sketching Objects and Environments from Your Imagination".

This is an first-class book if you lot want to larn to depict objects in perspective, but the caveat of class is that with all drawing books, you must actually take the time to exercise each do to truly go it. Scott Robertson'due south techniques will teach you how to draw not only accurately, but rapidly, in one case you empathise how information technology all works and learn his method. Again, it's very important to do all the exercises and practice them more than once, especially the stuff at the kickoff on drawing straight lines and ellipses. It seems easy just to depict some lines and circles, only when I moved on to the more circuitous stuff, I found that unless my lines and ellipses were very accurate, I couldn't depict the more hard shapes well so I'd take to get back to practicing straight lines, cartoon from point to indicate, ellipses, etc. A bit boring and tedious, but well worth mastering.

The second one-half of this volume is by and large tips and tricks on how to describe buildings, cars, and planes, which in my understanding is Scott Robertson'due south area of expertise (he'southward an industrial designer turned concept artist and seems to specialize in cars, planes, machinery, etc.). This part of the book explains concept art and pattern to beginners, but doesn't really provide exercises, it'southward more to give you lot tips for designing your own things.

Definitely an first-class drawing book with a lot to offer, peculiarly if you're into drawing and designing buildings, cars, planes, and any sort of machinery.

The author shares his thoughts on the creative procedure of conjuring upward ideas, which I found insightful, discusses some ways in which digital and mechanical tools tin help y'all to draw precisely, and dedicates several pages to various techniques y'all may want to consider using.

The whole thing is printed on high quality paper, and gives an impression of a well-thought-out initiative, quite specialised i, and then not for everyone.

An first-class textbook on cartoon from imagination! Cartoon from imagination is easily the most hard matter to draw, this book gives audio advice and techniques to simplify drawing from your listen to make sketches become completely realized drawings. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more than than but how to draw from life.

Crawly book for anyone who is starting to learn to draw from the basics. I really followed the exercises and realized that - hey, I DO take creative talent. Now I wish I continued doing the exercises but for someone who is more than defended they will come across a lot of comeback.
